Camila Cabello responds to Fifth Harmony's VMA's performance shade, heats up 'Tonight Show'
Back in August during the 2017 MTV VMAs, Fifth Harmony threw major shade at former member Camila Cabello during their performance.
In the performance, five silhouettes appeared at the top of a platform and then one, seemingly representing Camila, was pushed to the ground.
Camila opened up to the New York Times about watching the moment. “It definitely hurt my feelings,” she said. “I wasn’t expecting it, I wasn’t prepared for it – especially because at that point I’d moved on from it. I was just like, ‘What? Why?’”
Camila continued, “I have to make space for the good stuff to happen in my life. I don’t like holding onto the past, especially when it’s stuff that, in my opinion, is just petty.”
Meanwhile, Cabello’s debut solo album Camila drops today and she stopped by The Tonight Show to perform “Never Be the Same.” She appeared alone in a sparkly black dress against a montage of footage, as mirror effects to her left and right gave the illusion of three Camilas.
Over the last few weeks, Cabello has teased material from her upcoming album via cryptic Instagram snippets. The “Havana” singer recently called 2017 – her breakthrough as a solo artist – the best year of her life.
“I mean, obviously, the stuff in my career was hard to balance and was really, really intense,” she said. “But definitely, it was the best year of my life. I think the hardest year in my life was the year before, and 2017 was this very free, independent, really fun (time). I just felt very alive.”
