Miley Cyrus claims Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl' is about her
Katy Perry’s 2008 hit “I Kissed a Girl” raised many a brow in its time, and the song is back in the spotlight again, thanks to Miley Cyrus.
The pop phenom has been making the press rounds promoting her new single “Malibu” and in an interview with WKTU she claimed she was the inspiration for the hit.
- “When she came out with ‘I Kissed a Girl,’ I was doing the Hannah Montana movie, and I heard her on the radio, they said, ‘Who’d you write that about?’ And she said me.”
- Though Cyrus was just 15 when the song came out, she said she was delighted that she inspired the song. But Perry has claimed other inspirations for the song, including Scarlett Johansson, Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman.
- Meanwhile, it seems former frenemy Demi Lovato may be ready to buddy up with Cyrus again. The 24-year-old singer recently celebrated her five-year anniversary of sobriety and told The Hollywood Reporter that she is delighted Cyrus has also stopped using drugs and alcohol.
- “I am really proud of Miley,” she said. “I think that it helps people to know that there are people in the spotlight that have challenges, that are faced with very stressful lives.”
