Quickies: Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, & Liam Payne!

  • NICKI MINAJ TO OPEN THE BILLBOARD AWARDS: Nicki Minaj will be kicking off the 2017 Billboard Awards this Sunday. According to USA Today, Nicki will be joined on stage by Lil WayneDavid Guetta and Jason Derulo. And while it isn’t confirmed, reports are saying that Nicki will perform “Swalla” with Derulo and “Light My Body Up” with Guetta and Wayne. It has also been said that Nicki will perform solo record(s) as well. The Billboard Awards will air on ABC.

 

  • KATY PERRY RELEASES NEW SINGLE "SWISH SWISH": Katy Perry released a new track from her upcoming fifth studio album, Witness. The track is called Swish Swish, and many are already speculating the song is in response to drama with Taylor Swift. And though fans may be soaking up the new track, actress Ruby Rose has taken to Twitter to tell the world she does not like it. She tweeted, " 'Purposeful poop' to 'bomb a petit' to a sloppy mess of writing over the top of Funkagenda..stop trying to make 'Wit..I mean 'fetch' happen."

  • LIAM PAYNE DROPS DEBUT SOLO SINGLE "STRIP THAT DOWN": Liam Payne is back in the game. After One Direction's Niall Horan and Harry Styles released solo projects, Payne dropped his debut single, "Strip That Down," overnight. In it, Payne actually references his boy band past in the pre-chorus, singing, "You know, I used to be in 1D (now I'm out, free) / People want me for one thing (that's not me) / I'm not changing, the way that I (used to be) / I just wanna have fun (and get rowdy)."
